Information about Emma
I have been teaching for 13 years and have been privileged to work with people of all ages across many subjects in that time.
My background is in Law, in which I hold an undergraduate degree, with a Masters in EU and French Law. However, I have worked in Finance since my graduation and have completed the ICAEW CFAB qualification.
On top of this, I speak both French and German fluently and have an MA in Translation.
I continue to work with both the AQA and OCR exam boards providing marking services for the summer exam series` in both Law and Economics.
As well as being a bit of a Disney nerd (I used to work at Disneyland Paris), I also enjoy sports - particularly football - and have been a qualified referee and coach for 15 years.
Availability: I currently have very limited availability for 1:1 sessions but can be flexible about fitting students in during the day or at weekends - feel free to message for my full availability.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have taught hundreds of people over the last 13 years, ranging from 4 year olds to an 82 year old! Some of my most treasured experiences in this time are:
- assisting with French and German classes at a Comprehensive School, including planning 1 on 1 sessions to improve foreign languages and supporting students learning English as a foreign language
- teaching English as a second language to Korean doctors who had just moved to the country
- assisting a non-native speaking child to passing their 11+ in under 9 months
- coaching GCSE/A Level style Maths to adult learners in preparation for the Royal Navy Aircrew tests
- lecturing for both Under- and Postgraduate courses in Law
- working with countless undergrads in legal essays across Land, Tort, Contract, and Trusts Law
- seeing numerous young people achieve 4s and above (and find confidence) in Maths
- helping a young man who was failing his Economics A Level find love for the subject and end up with a B
- supporting a family who were moving to France with learning the language
- working with OCR as a A Level Law marker, and
- working with AQA as a GCSE and A Level Economics marker.
