Do you want your children to maintain their learning, from primary maths and English to secondary English and experience in specific needs, including assessing. Teaching English as a second language and improving exam skills.

My GCSE student sitting exams in January achieved the highest result in the paper for their school, exceeding school prediction showing 1:1 tutoring with a skilled practioner can benefit.

I am a fully qualified British teacher with 17 years experience in the classroom and a qualified teacher of specific learning difficulties including dyslexia. I am also an specific needs diagnostic assessor and worked with sensory processing.

I have worked with children from early years up to adults and also worked with training in the 11plus, teaching 3 year olds to adults assessing English, Drama and Media exams and tutoring for the last 6 years. I have also taught all aspects of KS1 and KS2 . Worked as Head of Department before taking time out to travel.
I am also trained to teach History, special needs and speech therapy.

Tutoring is about developing a confidence and learning to take the knowledge in. Its gaining the basis of how to write an essay without the worry and panic that so often many people face. The confidence to approach learning and gain from it. I am working with postive discipline and also learning through experinces. I aim to assess progress with my tutees at the end of long term sessions. I can also offer study and relaxation techniques for Exam worries. I assess their strengths and weaknesses and work on developing their learning through confidence.

Availability: Evenings and during the day.I provide tuition at home and travel to within a few miles from home.

Some weekends avalible on request.

Experience: 18 years in the classroom in a variety of schools which has enabled me to gain valuable teaching experience working with all types of learner and several years as a private tutor working with specific needs and also all key stages and exam preparation. I hold a teaching degree with the university of Wales, Cardiff and am level 5 OCR as a teacher of specific learning difficulties. I have been Head of Department, organised school productions, tutored after school classes to raise achievments. Been class tutor and coached PE.I have experience many Ofsteds and have written comment in 2000 by Ofsted on my high level of outstanding teaching skill ( which constitues 3 % of teaching staff), worked with 3 year olds in Spain to nursery age children through ks1 and 2 and specialised in teaching English, Drama and Media studies. I have taught the 11plus in school and worked in several of the independant schools and also a Montessori school.
Currently I work for the local education department as a tutor for the vunereable.

I am also a qualified swimming instructor, sports and rugby coach, worked in the theatre and numerous other jobs.
I have a full CRB check covering the last 16 years, full first aid certificate and references on request.
