I am passionate about English literature and in nurturing students to achieve their goals. I would describe myself as enthusiastic, knowledgeable, reliable and supportive.
I hold an MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature from the University of Reading.
Im experienced in working with children to prepare them for entrance exams at grammar and independent schools in 11+ and 13+ exams, GCSE exams and in supporting students develop their skills in English comprehension exercises and creative writing.
I have tutored adults in play writing, arts journalism, Business English, English as a foreign language, International GCSE and memoir writing. I have run creative writing workshops for adults in Reading. I have proofread for businesses and mentored in primary schools.
My first University exam results were Classics (A), Philosophy (A) and English Language and Literature (A).
At A Level I studied English Literature (A), Sociology (A) and Law (A).
Availability:
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: Tutoring English at primary (Years 5 and 6), KS3 and GSCE level.
Preparing students for entrance exams 11+ and 13+.
Leading creative writing workshops (in play writing and arts journalism) for adults at the South Street Arts Centre and the Rising Sun Arts Centre in Reading.
Teaching creative writing and journalism to 11-14 year olds at the London Jewish Cultural Centre.
Mentoring in primary schools.
Tutoring adults in business English, memoir writing, play writing and arts journalism.
