I am a fully qualified (PGCE) French and German teacher, and have been offering private tuition to GCSE and A Level students since 2013.

I tailor my teaching for each individual student, working at a pace to build their confidence, whilst ensuring they are stretched and challenged sufficiently to achieve their own goals and potential.

I am renowned for quickly developing a really strong connection and rapport with students. Having taught in non-selective secondary schools for several years, I fully understand the needs and motivations of young people of all abilities, and what kinds of approaches are needed to really help them engage and make progress in their learning.

Experience: My own journey in the wonderful world of languages started in my early teens, when I made regular trips to visit my French penfriend near Geneva. This sparked a passion for languages, and I went on to study German and Linguistics at UCL in the early 1980’s, achieving a 2:1.

As a graduate I worked in market research in the banking sector for several years, and then ran my own business in research, working on international projects that made full use of my French and German skills.

In 2013 I fulfilled a long-term ambition to become a languages teacher, and was awarded a PCGE with distinction by the University of Hertfordshire. I then spent seven thoroughly enjoyable years as a teacher in Hertfordshire, but once my own children flew the nest, I decided to take a break from my permanent teaching post, to enable me to spend more time with my family and elderly relatives, and to have the flexibility to go on holiday in term time!

I continue to provide support at the secondary school I taught at, in order to maintain the connection with students and colleagues. I also continue to offer tutoring on a private individual basis, particularly to students who need a boost in confidence to get them back on track.

Due to Covid 19 all of my tutoring is currently conducted (very successfully) online, and I am able to offer a nationwide service.
