Information about Alejandro

I am a native Spanish speaker, have been educated in the UK, and can make your learning experience rewarding and tailored to what you want.
I find little point in cramming a pupil`s short-term memory for the sake of a test, true learning comes from a new understanding. To get the best out of people you have to get them into a learning state of mind first, you can`t teach someone who doesn`t want to be taught. Increasing amounts of research done in the field of psychology have found that humans perform at their optimal state when they are in a state of balance between interest and discomfort, we have to be interested in the task we are performing but also feel it is just out of our comfort range and rise to the challenge intellectually.

Availability: I have a flexible schedule, and can potentially do any week day.

Experience: Experience Teaching
I started my experience teaching in both primary and secondary school as a volunteer, whilst there I also engaged in one on one sessions with students that were finding their subjects particularly difficult. I can see when a student has given up on a subject and are just trying to make the time pass and this is by far the most difficult yet important obstacle to overcome. I learned to pull students out from their pessimistic thinking about their own abilities and the subject, because we all learn differently, which is an idea that is not so easily conveyed within a classroom environment.
I then qualified as a Spanish teacher at the secondary level, which allowed me to become familiar with the different criteria and schemes of learning used in different schools. I have learnt the most effective and engaging methods for involving students in the learning of languages, and am keen to improve upon these further.
As well as this my family and I are a foster family that has cared for a number of children ranging from 6 to 17 years old and would often tutor them in subjects that they were struggling with at school, giving me a diverse range of experiences with students with different needs and different competencies.
