Information about Cinthu

Hello! My name is Cinthu and I am currently heading into my 4th year of medical school. I joined medical school as a postgraduate with a degree in Biomedical Sciences from Newcastle University. I am extremely passionate and enthusiastic about Science and Maths which is demonstrated by the combination of my degrees and the completion of A-levels in all 3 sciences, and is evident in my teaching. My studies have also provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge for me to teach these subjects to a great depth across a great breadth of topics. My passion is something that was aided by the quality of teachers that I had, and I therefore understand the substantial impact a great tutor can have.

I am keen to teach Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and help prepare for entrance exams. I am also prepared to give guidance to students with the Medical School admissions process, providing valuable advice to help secure a place. As someone who has been through the process, I understand how stressful it can be and where I can be of great help.

Every student is different and learns in a unique way and I aim to adapt my teaching style for the student, so they fully understand the content. I take pride in my ability to make more difficult content accessible and explaining hard concepts in basic terms, something I must do when talking to patients as a Medical Student. The general principle of my teaching style will be finding out the areas of weakness for the student, explaining the topic and using practice questions so I can see how the student thinks and works and to check their understanding. I have made the mistake before with learning the mark schemes rather than fully understanding the material and so I will ensure my students do not repeat this mistake.

I am aware that motivation may be low due to COVID and students being out of school, and I feel my teaching style is a very useful remedy for this. I ensure my lessons interactive and fun as possible, using a wide range of learning tools suited to the student. I am friendly, enthusiastic and patient and I aim to build a rapport with my students to build a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and treat them more like a peer.

Please note, I will be teaching online due to COVID.
I also have an Enhanced DBS check.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Availability: I am currently very flexible due to the COVID outbreak.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have a wide range of teaching experience and through working with a wide range of people I have developed communication skills which allow myself to adapt myself accordingly to many individuals. I have several years’ experience tutoring as part of a science club for pupils in younger years (Year 7 to 12) whilst at school where I would help them syllabus content and experiments. I also have been a private tutor (4 - 16-year-old) helping supplement schoolwork, increasing their confidence and helping with exam questions. Furthermore, I have peer mentored 1st year students during my Biomedical Science degree and as part of a volunteering project taught refugees and asylum seekers English.
