8 Years Qualified Primary Teacher EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2
Teaches English & Maths through a multi-sensory, immersive and creative learning-through-play approach
Offers a fun & hands-on learning experience
Boosts confidence & self-esteem
I favour a multi-sensory and individualised approach to my teaching and am committed to unlocking the potential of each and every child in a supportive, nurturing and engaging way - through the use of personalised learning plans, individual targets and confidence-building skills.
I am a highly adaptable and reflective practitioner and would describe my teaching style as fun, creative and hands-on. I offer active, learning-through-play sessions that follow the interests of a particular child and use my love of drama, music and story-telling to further explore these learning concepts and bring my sessions to life.
As a qualified Primary School Teacher, I share specialisms in Early Years Education, Maths Mastery, Phonics and Performing Arts. As an educator, I am a firm believer in delivering excellence within the wider curriculum, ensuring all children receive a high-quality and well-rounded education.
I facilitate 1:1 tutoring sessions that eradicate any previous barriers to learning, seek out how children learn best and give them a sense of ownership and empowerment over their own learning. I am passionate about delivering innovative and engaging sessions that put the learning experience and well-being of the child at its core.
Through my teaching sessions, I aim to ignite an individuals spark, instil confidence and inspire a life-long love of learning.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I am a qualified, highly motivated and dedicated specialist tutor with teaching specialisms in Early Years (age 3+), Primary Education, Special Educational Needs, Sensory Processing Disorders, LAMDA Exam Coaching and Performing Arts. Alongside my Qualified Teacher Status, I have a BA with Honours in English Literacy, Language and Communications.
I hold a wealth of teaching experience across all three primary key-stages (EYFS, KS1, Lower KS2) both in the UK and overseas, and have experience working with children and young people with specific educational needs, and learners from bilingual backgrounds (EAL/ESL).
I have worked in a range of 1:1 tutoring roles - primarily supporting children with complex learning, behavioural, social and emotional needs. I provide bespoke sessions with an emphasis on play-based, child-led learning and personalise each of my sessions around creative `hooks`, fun learning tasks and key interests of the child.
I have a thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and National Primary Curriculum (English and Maths), and specialist subject knowledge of the Maths Mastery Scheme, Dramatic Progress in Literacy Units and the Letters & Sounds Phonics Programme. I also have experience in Key Stage 1 and 2 - preparing pupils for end of term examinations and administering National Curriculum Tests, such as: Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, Year 2 SATs and Year 6 SATs.
In my role as Reception Phase Lead, I led on staff training and parent workshops around key aspects of the Early Years Curriculum. Alongside this, I was responsible for implementing and monitoring targeted interventions, including: Maths, Reading, Phonics, Handwriting (fine and gross motor), Behavioural/Social Skills and Speech and Language (articulation, fluency and voice disorders). These interventions included: Reading Recovery, Fabulous Phonics and Talk Boost and enabled children with processing disorders, communication difficulties and low confidence to make accelerated progress in these areas. They benefited greatly from working at a slower pace in smaller groups - each with individualised learning goals. Furthermore, the children also gained wider access to the curriculum through the use of clear, visual aids, an `active learner` approach and multi-sensory teaching methods.
I have worked closely alongside other Educational Professionals, such as: SENCo`s, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Literacy and Maths Consultants. I have inputted on Individual Education Plans, Curriculum Frameworks and supported children with Communication, Social and Behavioural needs. I have extensive experience and training in using the following teaching tools and strategies to help meet the needs of children with Autism, ADHD, Processing/Communication Difficulties: PECS, Visual Timetables, Now/Next Task Stations, Choice Boards, Communicate: In Print and Social Stories.
In my current work as a Drama Practitioner - I deliver Drama, Dance and Music workshops that inspire confidence through creativity. I ensure that workshop content is engaging, challenging and that every child develops at their own pace through skills-based group activities and performance opportunities. Both creative and educational - my workshops focus on social interactions, building confidence and developing communication and performance skills.

Feedback For Lucy (3)
Amazing! Lock-down occurred, we were tearing our hair out with the LO (in reception), who was wasting away . Lucy`s compassion and professionalism came in to our lives and saved the day. Lucy assessed the LO and delivered a learning plan catered to her.The change was amazing in the LO, she has gone back to having a love of learning and the improvement in her has been brilliant. Cannot sing Lucy`s praises enough and would highly recommend her.
So glad I found Lucy for my reception age daughter. My daughter is very engaged with Lucys lessons as Lucy makes it so much fun. I worried that my daughter might get distracted with online lessons but she concentrates really well, and during this lockdown period she has actually improved her phonics and maths even though shes not at school! All thanks to Lucy.
Lucy is a very experienced teacher and is able to tailor the lessons & the h/w materials to the child she is teaching. The online lessons are also well prepared and engaging. My Y4 daughter is responding very well to both the online tuition and is motivated to complete the set h/w.
