Information about Sam

I am a qualified BEd hons Degree primary school teacher with 27+ years experience in mainstream Primary schools. I have taught, in Early Years, key Stage 1 and key Stage 2. I have been tutoring privately, children from the ages of 6 to 10 (EYFS to upper KS2),for 2 years.
With my wealth of experience and resources i pride myself in bringing the best out in all children and helping them flourish to the best of their ability.

Whatever your tutoring needs are:- support, confidence building, filling the gap, stretching bright learners, SEND support, unwilling learners, home learners or just a quick few weeks of catch up. I can build a programme of learning that suits your child`s needs. Just ask!

My lessons are always fun and practical and ultimately I want your child to succeed and enjoy learning again.

The feedback I have from parents and students is that they look forward to Sam the Tutor coming to teach them. I think that is the best feedback of any.

Availability: I am available to tutor after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays and always tutor at your home where the child feels more relaxed and confident.

I am available to tutor home schooled children during the hours of 9 - 3pm individually or in small groups during the week. Ask for more details of how this can work for you.

I have been asked a lot about availability for catch up lessons. These are a block of lessons through the holidays to revisit skills, concepts and units of work that have been missed due to lockdown and not being in school. I am available to do that through the summer holidays. These lesson would benefit all children moving up to the next class or onto High/ Secondary school.

It may be that your child has got a learning difficulty and need some booster sessions to boost their confidence plug any gaps or catch up on speech and language targets to aid auditory or visual memory or processing difficulties. I can work with you to deliver these with your child.

If you just want your child to keep their brains ticking over with phonics, writing or math`s skills until they start their new class in September, i can build a block of lessons to suit your needs.

I can do pre teach sessions of the skills and objectives that will be taught in the following year just to give your child a head start.

If your child has a diagnosed speech and language delay and you need to work on auditory or visual memory or a processing diagnosis, I have lots of games and activities to support them and help build good listening skills which will help with phonic recognition, reading and writing.

Willing to travel: 20 miles

Experience: I taught in mainstream Primary schools for 27+ years and have been tutoring children for 24 months. I have experience with tutoring children from year 1 to year 6, children with send, reluctant learners and children who need a boost to aid progress, children who need to be stretched.

I am up to date in the new curriculum in both key stages and Early Years.

I have lots of experience working with children in small groups or individually helping those children needing interventions in maths and English, speech and language activities and children with Dyslexia and other learning difficulties. I work all the time on individual planning to help children succeed.

Sam was a fantastic tutor. She assessed our daughter before tutoring sessions began. Based on this she devised a teaching plan and informed us of the progress she should be expected to make. Sam’s manner is calm and reassuring. She is an extremely patient tutor who gives encouragement to her pupil through the session. She always arrived on time. I would recommend Sam to any parent.”

Tutors Response :

Thank you. L was a pleasure to tutor. So proud of her progress and SATS achievements.

A real find and lives up to her profile. We needed some help with our son`s maths - the usual post Covid lack of teaching issue. Our boy is a little shy and lacing in confidence but Sam quickly built up a rapport with him. Apart form her excellent teaching skills (and we have seen the difference in his school test results) she has the perfect caring and encouraging personality to bring out the best in children. Very pleased that we found her.

Tutors Response :
