Amy

Amy is a full-time tutor with a background in psychology, academic research and data analytics, based in the United Kingdom. She graduated from York St John University with a first class Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2018, and continued her dissertation research to gain her Master’s degree in 2020. She has spent over eight years actively studying psychology, and a further four years applying that knowledge to roles within marketing, business intelligence and economic strategy.

Academically, Amy’s main area of interest is in the field of social psychology, particularly relating to social perceptions and how these can be influenced by physical appearance and facial structure. Her postgraduate thesis aimed to investigate the relationship between facial maturity and perceptions of competence, as well as how this relationship could have been influenced by an individual’s job, gender, attractiveness, and other personality characteristics. Amy’s areas of expertise also include research methods; intelligence and personality testing; study skills; and both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Additionally, during her undergraduate degree, Amy covered specialised modules in clinical, evolutionary and animal psychology.

Amy has been a full-time tutor since 2023, during which time she has provided support to students entering the John Locke and Minds Underground essay competitions, some of whom have gone on to be shortlisted for the prize. She has a proven track record for helping her students achieve their target grades in GCSE, AS and A Level psychology and go on to their universities of choice. Amy is also an avid reader of many genres. She can think of nothing better than enjoying a good book in the garden with her dogs, a cup of tea and piece of cake.
