Information about Tom
Piano teacher with several years experience in schools and with private pupils of all ages.
I have worked with pupils aged 5 - 65 years and of all abilities from beginners to the more experienced.
My teaching is rooted in a classical method but I can draw on influences from elsewhere. I am an active jazz musician and find that it is fun to incorporate themes of harmony and improvisation into my teaching. I have experience in music production and in particular Ableton Live to produce, edit and master sound recordings.
Whilst my background is firmly connected to music, my training is in law. This too has had a close connection to music. I have worked with record labels, festivals and the Incorporated Society of Musicians.
I achieved grade 8 piano at fifteen. I followed this with successes in various music competitions and have performed at the Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall.
