All over the world, demand for beef and milk is on the rise. But as production expands to meet this demand, it`s becoming increasingly unsustainable, causing deforestation and desertification, and contributing to global climate change. The balance of cattle to grass is relatively sustainable at present, but with the growth of major developing powers such as China, India, and Brazil, the demands that cattle make on land are beginning to exceed supply.

Science, mathematics, sociology and psychology are all key components in understanding how to provide solutions to this humanitarian conundrum. Geography in all it`s many facets, looks into the effects of an ever-growing society competing with the demands cattle make on the land.
