Professional Accountancy exams offer a great route to the profession but pass rates are very low in many subjects.

Common errors are :

. Not answering all the questions. This is poor time allocation. For a 3 hour paper allocate 1.7 minutes per mark and use the remaining 10 minutes to check your scri pt for errors

. Answering a question that you wished had been asked , as opposed to a question that was actually asked ! Candidates should READ, THINK and then WRITE . In that order !!

. If your English is poor -write less , not more. Write simple short sentences, to the point .This will create a more positive impression.

. Do NOT write long paragraphs . Markers hate marking at the best of times so try to make their lives easier by writing short sentences separated by a line.

. Do all of one question together ! If you want to come back to one part of a question then leave a space within that question. Do not do it in some other part of the answer sheet.

. Clearly label which part of which question you are doing.

Remember:

Many markers only spend around 5-7 minutes on a scri pt you have spent 3 hours writing , so a well presented , tidy scri pt in the correct order will get you noticed ..and pay dividends.

Good luck !!
