Paul was a principal lecturer in psychology at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff where he worked for 16 years before retiring to live in México. He has taught psychology at one level for all his working life. He has a BSc (Hons, First Class) degree in psychology from University College London, an MSc in Intelligent Systems from Brunel University and a PhD from the University of Wales. His PhD thesis was "Understanding the student for more effective university teaching", reflecting his life-long interest in teaching and learning as well as in psychology. Paul has a keen interest in psychology around the world. He coordinated links in psychology between UWIC and other European Universities and more recently, universities in other parts of the world. With this comes an interest in culture and psychology which he taught to final year students. Paul also has an active research interests with recent publications in measuring students academic confidence, exploring different approaches to study between male and female students and being an academic with dyslexia.
