There are many elements needed in successful `coaching` of students. The first, and in my opinion most important, is to coach self belief and confidence. Without the belief that students can succeed, and without the self belief that needs to be instilled within students, I feel that it is very difficult for students to gain their potential in any examination.
Secondly, students need correct and insightful coaching in terms of what exactly the examination boards are looking for in perfect answers. Exam boards all have assessment objectives that students are assessed by. If students are not `coached` into appreciating the assessment objectives and understanding them then, again, it would clearly be very difficult to be successful.
Thirdly, it is so important to `coach` self-reliance into students as well. All too often students are `spoon fed` at school and in tutoring. Of course, it is important to feed students the right diet of education, but there is a big difference between providing students with an education and not allowing their brains to problem solve first, and then provide the necessary alterations later.
Coaching, it seems, is a very informal word, but with many different important consequences.
