The learning process is indispensable. During my time at RADA I was often told that I would continue to learn and should remain ever available and curious, prepared to re-learn and in some cases to start over. My mother told me that life could take away much, but never an education.

As the summer of the final term at RADA approached, my year was asked if it wanted to participate in a graduate training programme after which, on completion, we would have the tools to go into school to lead workshops. I was fascinated to put what I had been taught over three years to test but this was by no means my sole motivation. What I really wanted was to use my personal experience of what was useful to me as an actor and to utilise the skills so they may benefit actors, students and children.

Teaching contemporary and classical text, diction, voice, movement and specific techniques is what drives me; finding ways to open up and illuminate language so that it can be brought to life is what inspires me.

My inspirations have been my educators and I find I am now increasingly inspired by my students. Seeing daily acts of bravery and daring; of seeing children flourish and their confidence grow brings more joy to me than anything else.

Self-sufficiency is important to me. I have had to make my own work; produce, direct and write and to make this possible in a seriously competitive industry I`ve had to negotiate, placate, fundraise, network and on occasion fail. So it is with equal zeal that I am keen to engender dedication and resilience; that my students are able to think independently and to begin having confidence in their decisions, ambitions and dreams.
