Music As Mathematics

Music relates to mathematics in terms of the number of sounds that exist between any one noted and the same letter named note an octave higher. "octave is a term meaning a note with a certain letter name that also has the same letter name either higher or lower in pitch see C# d# F# G# A# C D E F G A B C

All the above letter named notes are half steps above or below others

i.e C TO C# is a half - tone or step above the note C... or a half step or half tone beneath D.

The Major scale in music on any named start note is made up of a sequence of the following tones/half tones

Tone Tone Semitone Tone Tone Tone Semitone
