I have always wanted to teach. This has come from a long founded ambition to help and educate. I have several young cousins and many friends who have younger siblings who I have taught or played with. I have enjoyed this experience and I believe this has prompted my enthusiasm to teach as I feel that I am very capable and understanding with young children. Teaching itself is extremely rewarding. Seeing a child progress in learning by being taught well and cared for in a comfortable environment is something that I would wish for every child. This makes me strive to become a teacher who teaches well and creates this environment.

I recognise that academically Music is a minority subject for examination but, like art, Music is arguably is an important element in the creation of a civilised society. It also forms the backdrop of most young people's lives and as such opens a potential doorway for rich communication. More materially, the Creative and Cultural Industries, as a whole, are also one of the UK's most significant business sectors and overseas earners with varied job opportunities.

I believe that I am personally suited to teaching. I have an outgoing personality and an infectious enthusiasm for my subject. I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and ages as I experience in the B Tech at Hammersmith. I have a good general education including Maths, Science, French, Latin and English at GCSE. I have passed a number of instrumental examinations set by the Guildhall School of Music in saxophone and piano and have a clear understanding about what it takes to progress as an instrumentalist. My saxophone playing has ranged from the popular to jazz and my piano is both classical and jazz. I also play guitar and bass in a number of genres and most recently have begun to teach myself drums to extend my rhythmic repertoire. Alongside my B Tech I achieved a Grade 8 theory qualification, an area I have continued to build upon in the course of my BA studies, and which I have found of critical value in seeking to develop the musical ideas of others in the context of shared performance.
