Richard Feynman believed if a topic could not be explained at a first year undergraduate level, it was not fully understood. He followed this idea in many of his books and made a range of topics accessible to a wide audience.

In his book "QED - The Strange Theory of Light and Matter" he explains the theory of quantum electrodynamics, which won him the Nobel Prize, without going into details of calculations. I would recommend anyone interested in physics to read this book, as it beautifully portrays a great complex theory with examples from our daily lives.

Another great easy-to-read book by Richard Feynman is "Six Easy Pieces: Fundamentals of Physics Explained". This book is a compilation of six of the easiest chapters from the famous "The Feynman Lectures on Physics". Although the collection of lectures would be more suitable as undergraduate texts, the "Six Easy Pieces" can be enjoyed by anyone studying physics at school.

If you are interested in science fiction, I would recommend "Physics of the Impossible" by Michio Kaku and "The Physics of Star Trek" by Lawrence Krauss. Both of these books look at the extent to which the laws of physics allow today`s science fiction ideas to become reality in the future.
