What we are going to look at in this lesson is how you can hold or sustain a note, now you really need to have followed all my breathing, posture and controlled release of air exercises taught in my course, those exercises are designed to help strengthen your lungs and improve your controlled release of the air in your lungs.

So for this exercise you will need to open your mouth as wide as possible, keep your tongue as flat in your mouth as possible you will learn how to do this in my full course, when you are releasing the air try to prevent your tongue from moving around and try to keep the sound in your head as a constant note and not a fluctuating note.

OK let's start, remembering to breath in through your nose and not your mouth let's take a deep breath of air filling our lungs from the bottom up, remember your tummy should expand as the air fills your lungs but your shoulders and chest should not rise.

Now once you are full of air sing AHH with a comfortable note in your vocal register and open your mouth wide, keep your tongue flat and slowly push the air up from your lungs using your diaphragm you will learn how to do this properly in my course.

As you start to feel yourself running out of air either slightly lean forward or slightly squat down, this helps put added pressure on your diaphragm and will force the last bits of air in your lungs up and out helping you hold the note you are singing for just a bit longer, another technique at this running out of air moment, is to carefully lean back, lifting your rib cage this can help the air flow but you have to be careful because if you lean to far back you run the risk of cutting off your air flow and we don't want that.

Do this exercise like all of the exercises I give you, 4 or 5 times through, just once a day, this will strengthen your lung capacity and breath control and as these increase so the length of time you can hold a note for will increase and you will impress everyone.

Thank you for joining me today and I look forward to working with you again.
