Does Inflammation Explain The Association Between Oa And Cvd?
exploring the correlation between OA and cardiovascular diseases

Abstract: Osteoarthritis (OA) and cardiovascular disease (CVD), both significant contributors to the global burden of disease and leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. the intricate relationship between OA and CVD has garnered considerable attention due to emerging evidence suggesting potential commonalities in underlying mechanisms, particularly in the context of inflammation.Given the chronic and multifactorial nature of both OA and CVD, the aim is to explore multifaceted pathophysiological links between these two prevalent condition to identify if inflammation explains the association between.Data source major databases were probed (web of science, Scopus and Medline via Ovid) for results. Through a rigorous Study eligibility criteria, a total of 9 studies are included in this systematic review.Osteoarthritis (OA) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are substantial contributors to the global disease burden, standing as leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The intricate interplay between OA and CVD has become a focal point of investigation, driven by emerging evidence pointing towards potential commonalities in underlying mechanisms, particularly within the realm of inflammation.Given the chronic and multifactorial nature characterizing both OA and CVD, the objective is to delve into the intricate pathophysiological connections between these prevalent conditions. The primary focus is on scrutinizing whether inflammation serves as an explanatory factor for the association between the two.To achieve this goal, major databases including Web of Science, Scopus, and Medline via Ovid were systematically queried for relevant results. A stringent set of study eligibility criteria was applied, leading to the inclusion of a total of nine studies in this systematic review.
