Algebra: The Key To Mathematics And Life

Algebra. We all know the topic. Yet, some of us fail to recognise its significance. Back when I was being tutored for GCSE mathematics, my teacher would constantly tell me that algebra is the key to maths and that being confident in algebra would make one excel at mathematics at both GCSE and A-Level. At first, I questioned this statement as I was struggling to understand how one topic from a broad range can advance ones ability in a vast discipline. Nonetheless, I was went through my studies, I began to appreciate algebra for its true value. Fast forward to today in which I am now a university student studying at University College London (UCL), I am engaging with algebra in the most niches of places. For example, I used it recently to help me calculate my grade for a current module which has been split into 3 parts with differing percentages. In that instance I thought to myself, algebra really is applicable to daily scenarios. Going back to my A-Level mathematics experience, I categorically believe that it is my passion and confidence in algebra that gave me the ability to excel and achieve an A* in this discipline. The reason as to why I chose this topic in my article is to indicate to my potential students that I aim to teach them in a way that helps excel in both their academic and daily endeavours. I have much experience in teaching and I can confidently say that those students who were more confident in algebra are the ones who will achieve the highest results. If you give me the opportunity to showcase my talents in teaching, I have no doubt that even you will some day reference me in a story when it comes to the highlight topic: algebra. ;
