Prime numbers are positive integers greater than 1 that have no positive integer divisors other than 1 and themselves. In other words, a prime number is a number that can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself. For example, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, and 13 are all prime numbers because they have no divisors other than 1 and themselves. However, 4 is not a prime number because it can be divided evenly by 1, 2, and 4.
