How to revise effectively for your Science GCSE Exams ( It can apply for any Exams)

First of all,

1. Do not panic - Everyone is under pressure and worried before the exams so try not to panic.

2. Start early - I would recommend at least two or three months before your exams.

3. It is never too late - Whenever you start, even you think it is late, you are wrong. Start as soon as possible.

4. Get started - A lot of students are planning to revise , and organising when they start, but they never do. Just get started!

5. Time - Time is very important! I would say that you should revise at least one hour a day ( two hours would be better!).

6. Ditch the phone! - get rid of your phone when you study. The phones are big distractions and you will not focus fully if you have your phone near you!

7. Study alone - I would say that if you study alone, you will cover more stuff than if you have a mate near you.

8. Memorise facts - When you revise, use flashcard ( with or without MindMap) .This will help you to remember important scientific facts better.

E.g. Acid rain is caused by sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides

Front of Flashcard says: State two gasses which cause of acid rain.

Back of Flashcard says: Two gasses which causes acid rain are sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.

9. Repetition - Repeat what you have learned several times so you remember it for your exam.

10. Exam practice - Two weeks before your exams, practise Exam style Questions under Exam condition. ( e.g. Use one minute for one mark questions, when you finish paper, go back to questions you could not answer and guess if you do not know the answer, if you finish early go back to the hardest questions and go over the paper again, when you do practise , use mark scheme and go over the paper with the answers, add information with different pen and learn the questions you did not answer fully until you master it.).

11. Music - you can use music while you revise ,but only if it does not disturb you.

12. Break - I would say no, but if you need a little break, have it to minimum.

Definitely NO PHONE!

Good luck with your revision and with your Exams.
