Do you want to excel in your English GCSE`s but don`t know how? In this article, I will spill some useful tips on how to improve your English grades

1. Identify what are your strengths and weaknesses - do you feel like you are doing everything but your grade seems to stay the same? I highly recommend that the next time you complete a piece of writing, you compare it against an exemplar model answer. That way, you will clearly see where you have lost out on the marks and how you can secure as many marks as possible.

2. Use past papers and examiners reports - this is a no-brainer! You should attempt some past paper questions whilst revising so you can test your knowledge and see where you should focus your revision. The more you practise the better, so start incorporating these as soon as possible! Examiners reports are hidden gems that detail exactly where candidates from each cohort have lost marks so that you can avoid those same mistakes.

3. Practise, practise and PRACTISE - I cannot stress this enough! The more you attempt writing essays, the more easier it`ll be for you come the real GCSE exams. There is no better feeling than finally being able to write essays with ease. Even if you think you have practised enough, practise some more writing. Once you`ve completed an essay, ask your tutor to mark it for you and give you some constructive feedback.

4. Stay consistent - academic burnout is real! Do not try to cram all of your English revision at once, it`ll do more harm than good in the long run. Instead, start by doing some revision every day, little by little and gradually build up the amount of hours. This way, you`ll ensure that you are consistently revising and are more likely to remember key vocabulary/ concepts.

Best of luck to everyone sitting their GCSE and A level exams, YOU`VE GOT THIS!
