Water: How The Cycle Of The Rivers Can Be Restored To A Pre-industrial Era

Example of a Plan to upgrade the waters quality in the cycle of the rivers.

Summary:

1. Identify the main waterway in the region of study.

2. Identify the main affluent`s of the main waterway.

3. Identify the Human actors depending on the waters and the consumption and disposal.

4. Identify the borders between the people and the government protected lands, and the government non protected lands.

5. Identify the zone with more habitants needing upgrade the water disposal management and live in under quality conditions.

6. Make a census of the targeted population.

7. Develop whit the in a series of seminars a comprehensive plan who covers all their basic needs to improve their water management and live conditions.

8. Present the plan to the local authorities and get the approval for the needed government permissions and budget approval.

9. Prepare the population to implement the plan with a series of seminars.

10. Implement the plan with the community and the government.

Background:

The year 2006, the place Coconuco, Cauca, Colombia, the population the Indigenous peoples called the Nasa ` Yuwes.

In a series of seminars with the community, we develop a plan for the improvement of the water management of 50 families with dire necessity of improving their basic living conditions.

The plan was to group the families in non individual plot`s of land, instead the families will group the individual plot`s into a state and arrange the territory in zones for terraced housing, woods and parks, commercial and community places, small industry units and water disposal and treatment plants, the community was in charge of the construction, they were prepared for the job in the series of seminars, the local authorities were to verify the process, and the budget comes from the government benefits granted to each family and from a Grant for the mitigation of damages caused by natural disasters.

The plan and the budget was approved, and the community was ready to implement it.

Outcome:

The local authorities arrange the plot`s of land for the 50 families, set up the zones, grand the housing zone to the families and made public the woods and parks zones, the commercial and community places was planned for be managed by the local authorities and the community.

The budget for the housing project was granted by the mitigation of damages caused by natural disasters Trust and the community build the housing project and the water disposal and treatment plant.
