1. Public opinion was against the horrors of another war and that enabled nations to respect the decisions of the League during the 1920s

2. Countries had infrastructure destroyed by the War. Most countries therefore focused on reconstruction and had no time or capacity for military aggression

3. Dictators such as Hitler had not yet gathered sufficient recognition to upset European peace. Although Mussolini had achieved power in 1922, he too was still significantly weak to cause an upheaval in Europe.

4. The League achieved some notable achievements and this gave credit and respectability to the League the dispute over the Aaland Islands between Finland and Sweden was resolved Germany and Poland reconciled over Upper Silesia when they accepted League mediation Turkey and Iraq had their dispute over Mosu resolved by the League and Greek/Bulgarian crisis was also successfully resolved.

5. As a new Organisation, countries wanted to give it a chance to operate

6. Historians argue that the disputes in which the League got involved were small and the respective countries were prepared to accept the League`s virdict
