What GCSE English examiners want to see?
Examiners each year receive hundreds of thousands of scanned copies of your child`s exam paper? What will make the examiner raise an eyebrow or think this child seems like he/she is someone who knows what we want precisely?
Encourage your child to not think, plan or word their answer in their own voice.
Secondly, teach your child to multi-task: content, its expression and link to next sentence.
Know what it means to annotate the question and annotate it.
Know what context means in fiction and non fiction exam papers.
And there are hundreds more strategies that GCSE English exam questions require.
It does not matter whether your child has been predicted a level 2, 3, or 4. With the honest advice, they can secure a higher level.
Oh, and don`t forget - being able to read fiction and non fiction is not enough. We must encourage pupils to think in abstract terms and conceptualise fiction.
Apply these and many more secrets to outstanding grades in A level English and Sociology too.
