He Thought He was Alone

He was alone, and in the dark and when he reached out for the matches, the matches were put into his hand

At this point he was trembling like a leaf. He did not know who, or what, was with him in the dark, damp, dismal room.

He eventually decided to light one of the matches. He took one of the matches out and ran it along the edge of the box. As the flame crackled to life and danced on the edge of the match, he could see what was in the room with him.
