Eating Pi:

We begin with a story about two friends, Sam and Michael, who attend a Pi eating contest. When they arrive at the contest, they are told that if they can beat the judge in `who can eat the pi in the fastest time` challenge, they will win the competition prize.

Sam isn`t really a pie eater so he persuades Michael to give a shot (Sam knows Michael likes to eat!). The judge chooses his pie and sits down at table B leaving Michael to sit down at table A. Michael examines both pies` and does not seem to think there is any difference in their size so does not mind the judge picking first. Michael sits down on his table, adjacent to the judge, and a countdown begins from 5 before they can start eating the pie.

5...4...3...2...1...GO!

Both competitors start rapidly eating - at first Michael accelerates ahead of his opponent but as times goes on... the judge comes out victorious! Michael couldn`t believe it - he was a lot more ahead that his judge from when he was checking to see how much pie was left yet he lost. Michael went up to the judge and asked, `How did you win?! I was ahead of you most of the time!`. To which the judge said: `Always bring your own set of pies or a ruler if you don`t want to lose`...

What Michael failed to understand is that when he thought that both pies were the same size, they were indeed NOT!

The pie was fully cylindrical shaped, and both had the same height (2cm) but what was misleading is that the radius of pie A was 8cm but the radius of pie B was 7cm (barely noticeable to the naked eye

Hence the volume of pie A was: {pi}{82}{2}cm3 = 128{pi}, yet the volume of pie B was: {pi}{72}{2}=98{pi}cm3 . Thus Michael (without knowing) had to eat [128{pi}cm3 -98{pi}cm3 =30{pi}cm3 ] more pie than the judge...

HE WAS NEVER GOING TO WIN!!! Poor Michael :(
