Depending on your age group and education level, feel free to trial these suggestions!

-Needless to say, everyone is spending a lot of time at home at the moment. For most people this means spending a lot of time with your family or flatmates. Why not try writing a quiz for them? Read some articles, I find the National Geographic website best for this, and write quiz questions based on the most interesting facts you can find. Quiz your family and remember to have a prize for the winner!

[The aim of this exercise is to encourage the student to read more, process the information they are reading, and format it in a way that they understand in order to quiz their family. This also allows the student to read about things that interest them, rather than just what they are reading for education purposes, thus encouraging them to enjoy reading. Furthermore, by engaging family members with their learning, the student builds a support system for their learning. The fun nature of the quiz and prize ensure that their is positive reinforcement for the student`s work]

-Board games such as Scrabble and Bananagram are fun ways to practice without feeling like you are studying. Dobble is also an exciting game for everyone, but particularly speakers of other languages, as it encourages the speaker to translate words quickly.

-A classic game that can be played anywhere and is excellent for both young children and speakers of other languages is "I went to the shops and I bought...". To play this game, players take it in turns to say "I went to the shop and I bought a [item]". Each player must say everything that everyone else has bought as well as what they are buying. The winner is the person who can last the longest remembering everything that has been purchased at the shop. Remember, you can buy anything at this shop! Get creative with your purchases! This is a particularly good game for long journeys.

-Countdown is another classic game that encourages the student`s family to positively reinforce their learning. You can easily play this game at home and get creative with making it as close to the television show as possible! Watch an episode of the show to get the idea of the game. After this, you will need to make cards with letters on them. You will need two of each letter. Please copy and paste this link into your browser for an easy stopwatch:
