Tips on How to Revise Effectively
Struggling to revise? Then follow these tips to optimise your revision schedule.
Write on flash cards. The brain learns information better when you you write it down just after you have heard it or seen it.
Test yourself. Make sure you take practice tests which will highlight where you need to focus on aspects of your learning.
Teach it to someone else. By teaching another person/peer you reinforce your own learning of the information.
Read it aloud using recall memory. This also helps to cement the information firmly for the learner.
Use printed material/books. It is easier to retain information from paper than screens so make sure you use some paper learning resources.
Set goals. Tick off the goals that you have achieved as this will help with motivation and help you to feel in control of your own learning journey.
Study in short blocks. Learning in small chunks optimises how well you learn something. Aim for 30 minutes or hourly study time and create gaps to enable you to process the information.
Create a learning space. Prepare your learning space with the books, pens resources that you need as it will help to prepare the mind for study time. Exercise, sleep and eat nutritiously. These three things will help you gain more focus, alertness and enhance your overall ability to learn better.
Be organised and creative. Create mind maps and diagrams, use colour and organise your notes in a coherent way as this will help you to learn smarter and more effectively.
