The tutor must use his/her common sense, creativity and knowledge of the relevant techniques to build a road-map from where the student is, to where the student needs/wants to be. This will include metrics along the way for the tutor (benchmarking, testing etc...). These needn`t be cumbersome or boring for the student and tutor; they can include interactive quiz, games, multimedia supported lessons and a range of creative tools.
Probably the most important advice for tutors is: have fun teaching. If the fun element is missing, it might indicate a need to reflect on your methodology, your motivation or other aspects of your tutoring as this will have a direct correlation to your student`s ability to learn and reach their goals.
