Here are the Marketing Study Labs top tips when tackling a Professional Marketing Qualification:

Study Guides
A study guide is a great place to start as it covers all the syllabus topics that you will need to understand in more detail in order to pass your exam / assignment. There will also be more and more resources available online from us here at Marketing Study Lab, so keep checking these sites orsubscribe hereand we`ll do the work for you.

Core Text Books
It is always recommended that you get hold of a core text book that is on the recommended reading list for each module. They are quite expensive so we would suggest starting with one, then and if you feel you need further reading material purchase any others that are on list.

Check the Syllabus
Each module is covered by a comprehensive syllabus which highlights point by point what your are required to learn and understand (or what can be covered in an exam or assessment). By using the syllabus as a checklist, you can make sure that you are covering all the relevant topics during your studies. Anything that doesn`t make sense or is quite confusing, just ask!

Exam Questions and Assessments
You should also check out past exams and assessments, which will give you an indication of what to expect with your eminent exam / assignment. It is vitally important that you practice (where appropriate) past exam papers and specific elements of assignments, as this will only improve your skill in those elements that you will be eventually assessed on. This is not as important for assignments, but in those instances we would suggest looking back at the examiners reports to review what students have done to gained marks on past assignments and what hasn`t.

Deadline Dates
Make sure you know when deadline dates are for assessment and exam entries.

Ask Google!
It sounds so simple and in most cases it is. If you are ever stuck on a marketing question, method, theory or concept, most of the time Google can be your best friend. If you`d prefer to talk something through or get another professional opinion, then please doget in touchand we will be more than happy to help.

In short, for each module I would look to do the following:

- Use the module syllabus as a guide as to the areas you need to cover
- Read the study guides for an overview
- Read the core text book(s) for each module for a more in-depth look at the theory and application
- Make sure you have and use real world examples to back-up the theory in both exams and assignments
- Get to grips with the Harvard referencing guidelines
- PRACTICE THE EXAMS / READ AND REVIEW YOUR ASSIGNMENTS!
- Ask questions when unsure.... we are here to help!

Bonus Tip
As a side note, you need to tackle the assignments differently to that of an academic assignment in that you should be writing as if it is a real life task, not one you will be assessed on (i.e. try and imagine your boss has put it on your desk and has asked you do do it as part of your current role). All the referencing etc is still the same as an academic assignment (Harvard) and it is beneficial to cite examples, but in the main it should be treated as a real life task.
