Many students use note taking and rewriting of notes as a method of revision. This can be useful, however, it`s important that your brain is engaged in the process. Simply copying the notes word for word does not need you to use the thinking parts of your brain, and so is of limited use.

To improve the effectiveness of your note taking try `translation`. This is the process of changing what you are reading into different language (into bullet points, change the words - not translate it into Greek unless you`re very good at Greek!), or, better still, turning it into a picture or diagram. This involves much larger parts of your brain and improves learning, leading to better grades!

Give yourself a pat on the back if you know what `translation` means in terms of what Ribosomes do!
