Cantonese - Hard To Learn But Fun To Speak

Cantonese is the official and most popular language in Hong Kong. Compared to Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese has 9 intonations instead of 4. It`s been said that it`s one of the most difficult Chinese dialects.

Due to HK culture being international and innovative, every year there are new words invented.

How to learn Cantonese? It`s just the same as other languages. You need to practise a lot, communicate in the language with others more, listen to music, and watch movies or drama series. Learning a new language is most efficient when you utilise your environment to help you. For example, notes on your desk and wall, listening to songs in the language all day long, even familiarising yourself with that language system and thinking in your mind with that language.

China now is obviously a more opened up market compared to before, and Hong Kong has always been a buffer area or a stepping stone before you place you flag on Mainland China. So not only is Mandarin important, but also Cantonese.
