Someone once said if I had to chop down a tree I would spend most time sharpening my axe.

A lot of students are beginning to find the real work for their examinations is only just beginning and starting to panic. So remember that sharpening your learning skills is going to help you tackle the mountain in front of you.

A great way to improve your study technique is to find out the best way to learn, and the way that suits you best may have eluded you so its worth taking a few minutes to see what `type` of learner you are. Try the Vark website to test yourself and see if you are giving yourself the best opportunity to learn.

Maybe you like learning from diagrams and revise using mind maps with lots of colours and pictures that you can recall in an examination. It is surprisingly quick to jot down what you need to know for a topic, this will give you a frame on which to add the knowledge that will get you a few extra marks.

Some of us learn better by doing, actually remembering exercises in class or learned during Young Enterprise activity. Watching TV can be a useful way of understanding business and there are lots of useful websites which link into relevant films and documentaries. If you refer to real businesses in your examination the examiner will know that you are making links and analysing (provided of course that your link is relevant). Youtube has some great films, but don`t get too distracted!

Some people like to record long lists of facts and replay from their iphones etc. Try it, it may work for you.

Most of us however will try all these methods and find most of them work to some extent. We are multimodal learners and using a variety of techniques seems to work best.

Remember that knowledge is vitally important but what will get you most marks is answering the question effectively so don`t forget to write out answers in full to sharpen your exam technique. Good Luck
