The day has arrived, you are holding the envelope in your hands, you want to open it but you are too nervous...Deep breathe in, and you finally open it, you scheme through the grades and scan what grade you got for your subjects. You are not entirely pleased, you know that your grades will determine which University you go to, and also what degree you can pursue.

You have two options, to take the apprenticeship route or go abroad, yes! You can go abroad. There are several European Universities that allow students from the EU to study for free or at a very low cost.

First stop Finland There are currently no tuition fee charges in Finland. But you do need to make a financial plan, as you need to add living costs. Don't worry, it is not as expensive as London, average living cost for student is between 500 to 800 Euros per month. At the moment, scholarships are mainly available only for Doctoral level studies and research.

Second stop Austria If you are a non-EU student, federal/public universities in Austria only charge about 363.36 or 726.72 Euros per semester for tuition fees plus 17.50 Euros for the Student Union membership fee. The living cost in Austria including accommodation, food and personal expenses is about 800 Euros per month.

Third stop Norway Norwegian state universities and university colleges as a rule do not charge tuition fees to all students including international students. This applies to all levels, including undergraduate studies, Masters and Ph.D. programmes. However living costs are extremely high, if you are lucky to get accommodation in the campus, you could end up paying 400 euros a month with all facilities included if not you will be paying 670 euros a month, and that doesn't include facilities such as TV or internet.

Fourth stop Germany Universities in Germany do not charge any tuition fees for undergraduate studies for all students including international students. In some Federal States, Universities will charge a semester contribution or administration fees. This tuition fee structure can change in the future, you should research further. Unlike undergraduate studies, most Masters or PhD studies in Germany are fee-based. The costs for postgraduate studies are in addition to the enrollment and confirmation fees. On average, German students spend about 500-800 Euros for accommodation, transport, food, and miscellaneous expenses.
