Information about Zillah
I have a first degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, and a PhD in Neuroscience from UCL. Since then, I have worked at the House of Lords as a specialist to the Science and Technology select committee, and currently work in the civil service.
In my approach to tuition I work closely with the exam syllabus, and try to cover all areas which the student needs help with over the time available. I discuss each topic with the student, using a series of structured questions to build a genuine understanding, before moving on to the recall of key facts.
I will set written work where the student feels this would be helpful, depending on the workload set by school. Written work will focus on mastering the style of questions likely to come up in the exam, and I encourage my students to mark their own work and learn from their mistakes.
Availability: I am available on weekday evenings, weekends, and friday daytime. The fee I charge depends on the time of the lesson, with reduced fees available on weekdays for daytime or early evening lessons.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I have tutored science and maths for the past ten years, having started during my PhD. I have experience with students of a range of ability levels, including students with learning disabilities and autism, and a range of attitudes too!
