Hi! I’m Ope the Tutor, a dedicated online Chemistry tutor with over 15 years of experience helping students achieve their target grades, while building confidence and clarity in science. I hold an MSc in Green Chemistry from the University of York and a BSc in Chemistry with Biochemistry from Queen Mary University of London (both Russell Group universities).

I specialise in helping OCR A-Level students working at grades B-D and aiming for an A*-B.

Since 2010, I’ve specialised in online tutoring using interactive whiteboard systems and classrooms that bring lessons to life. My approach is highly personalised. I work with the student to craft a curriculum that prioritises the student`s struggles, adjusting to the student’s learning style and pace, breaking down complex concepts into simple explanations. Whether it’s the Arrhenius Equation or Organic mechanisms, I love helping students “see” the science, not just memorise it.

I incorporate regular practice with exam-style questions to build familiarity, boost confidence, and develop the skills needed to tackle assessments head-on. I understand how overwhelming science can feel, especially under exam pressure, and I’m here to make the journey not only manageable, but enjoyable, while helping you achieve your goals.

Experience: I tutor using a virtual classroom with real-time editing, chat, and tools for uploading documents, drawing, and math/science functionality.

Depending on your learning style, I`m happy to employ a range of methods to aid your understanding, ranging from past papers, interactive quizzes, flashcards, YouTube videos and much more. Simply tell me what works best for you.

My sessions are fully interactive and tailored to your learning needs. Each lesson typically begins with a short teaching or revision segment, followed by guided practice using exam-style questions. Depending on your goals, we can adjust the balance between teaching and practice to suit you.
After each session, I’ll leave a brief assignment on the board for you to complete in your own time, reinforcing what we’ve covered. At the start of the next session, we’ll do a quick recap to consolidate your understanding and keep progress on track.
