I am a family oriented person and have been a qualified teacher since the late 1990s. I live with my teenage daughter and our lives are greatly enhanced by our three cats and one hyperactive Jack Russel Terrier. My home is busy and filled with music, laughter and healthily heated debate.
I approach most of life`s little dramas with humour and pragmatism. Just like my approach to education. Hard work and problem solving but light enough to enjoy the process without feeling too bogged down in it.
I am interested in alternative ways of living whether it be gardening organically, using complementary therapies or educating children at home.
I believe in freedom with responsibility and ownership of the choices we make.
Approach to tutoring
I aim to find a balance between the student`s immediate needs, with regards to pending assignments, assessments and exams, and their individual learning style.
I develop strategies as an on-going process while utilising established resources to assist in the accomplishment of tasks.
I aim to develop and enhance the student`s understanding and knowledge of the subject so that their appreciation may grow thereby increasing, that vital component in all learning, motivation.

Availability: I am available most evenings and, if necessary, weekends.
I am normally happy to travel to students however I am without transport at the moment and can only accept students who can be brought to me. Thank you.

Experience: I have taught in Secondary schools, Further Education College, as a Prison Lecturer and currently with Higher Education students. I have delivered various subjects and have experience in assessing, recording and reporting student progress. I have experience of teaching students with Special Educational Needs such as Dyslexia and Asperger`s Syndrome.
My tutoring interests include: National 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, Communications, Media Studies, EAP, Study support, Essay writing, Proofreading, Dissertation planning.
I also tutor Secondary level Scottish Studies, Geography, Psychology and Media Studies.
