Information about Tommaso
My first interest in learning languages goes back to my youth when I met tourists visiting my home town in Tuscany and I wanted to establish clear communication with them.
This interest took form when I enrolled in the local secondary school for Tour Management here I learnt English and German. This interest continued to develop when I had to use English and German language at University to learn Mandarin and Japanese as most of the text books in Italy were written in those two European languages.
I started working using my linguistic skills as soon as I could as a translator and interpreter this enriched the value of understanding and communicating correctly from one language to another across cultures.
The interest for teaching emerged when I shared the cultural knowledge and approach to languages I gained to people who showed an interest in my academic major then I also realised how important is the method of teaching.
These experiences of learning and teaching languages have given me the opportunity to develop my teaching abilities and deal with problems in diverse cultural and learning environments.
Availability: I am available weekdays both in person
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I started working using my linguistic skills as soon as I could as a translator and interpreter for the local authorities and travel agencies in Italy in the early 2000 this enriched the value of understanding and communicating correctly from one language to another across cultures.
The interest for teaching emerged when I shared the cultural knowledge and approach to languages I gained to people who showed an interest in my academic major then I also realised how important is the method of teaching.
Since 2010 I have experienced various professional teaching and learning environments together with different methodologies to teach adult students and school children from a variety of backgrounds.
At the local language school in Macclesfield, I learnt to plan lessons for mixed classes of adults and children for a variety of purposes, ie entertainment and business.
In my experience of lecturing in South Korea I learnt to adjust the plan to the local academic style this shows different cultural, structural and practical understanding. In my current job as private tutor I am learning to include the everyday spoken and written language into the plan.
I am also currently completing my TEFL course where I am learning more lesson planning techniques including ice-breakers, warm-ups and Needs Assessment phases. I have used a combination of various teaching materials such as the internet, skype, power point slides and also black or white boards, flashcards and visual material.
These experiences of learning and teaching languages have given me the opportunity to develop my teaching abilities and deal with problems in diverse cultural and learning environments.
As for Self defence classes I can offer you a pre-emptive 6~8 weeks course to learn on how to deal with an aggression. This is called the Blitz-Defence. Afterward you may learn the more advanced and sophisticated body-tactile training which allows you to react progressively in a less proactive way.
