Information about Teresa

My aim is to create a friendly, non-pressured approach to learning. I realise that it is vital to build the self confidence of each of my students and to ensure a clear understanding of basic skills. I assess the children carefully through questioning and discussion to identify each child`s misconceptions and weaknesses. I then use a range of strategies and explanations appropriate to that child`s abilities. I ensure that the student works at his/her own pace This structured approach leads to growing understanding and confidence enabling the student to make good and sometimes rapid progress. Tutor sessions are available in my home as I rarely have time to travel now.

Availability: Every day and evenings: Monday - Sunday inclusive.
I am currently heavily booked from 1pm onwards, but have a few spaces available as current Y11 pupils finish their exams.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have been in the teaching profession for over 11 years - 8 years as a KS2 teacher and 3 years as a Teaching Assistant. I have been tutoring Maths in the local area for the past 11 years, helping students prepare for GCSE exams and retakes. I have also helped a number of students with Science subjects, in particular GCSE Chemistry. I have built up an excellent reputation for success and have an ever growing reference bas to back this up.
Having worked within upper KS2 for many years, I believe in the importance of teaching children a range of strategies for calculating basic mathematical operations. This gives the pupil the opportunity to UNDERSTAND the mathematical process they are learning. They can then choose the method/strategy which best suits them and use this to help them solve more difficult problems. This is so important as it enables the children to enter high school with mathematical confidence to embark on their KS3, GCSE studies.
As of 01/05/11, I tutor f/t, 7 days a week!
