Information about Philip
Hello! I`m Philip, a researcher, a statistical programmer and a (UK) qualified teacher of science with good understanding of the National Curriculum.
Prior to my present occupation, I worked as a teacher of science in school in Berkshire. My role included teaching A level chemistry, KS 4 physics and chemistry, and KS 3 science. Regarding this experience, I think it is noteworthy to mention that I was highly regarded ( by colleagues and my students) for my outstanding subject knowledge-.
Similarly, I am a very experienced tutor of mathematics and science. Over the past 10 years, I have helped a substantial number of students achieved their desired grades in A level physics, A chemistry, A level mathematics, and GCSE science. I was also a tutor to undergraduates of mechanical engineering and economics, studying at Brighton and London respectively; they achieved top grades in materials science, strength of materials, thermodynamics and financial mathematics-through my contributions.
My achievements (as a tutor) are due to passion, patience, knowledge and ability to bring out the best in every student. Through my "calming "approach to tutoring, my students usually become more confident in their abilities-after a couple of tutoring sessions. My mindset is this: a student`s current level of knowledge is very valuable and can be enhanced to reach the highest level of attainment, with a different approach to teaching and learning.
Apart from my teaching experience, I worked as a chemical engineer, and as a lecturer in the department of chemical engineering of an overseas university (where I taught engineering mathematics, thermodynamics, and separation processes at the undergraduate levels).
I hold a B.Sc. in chemical and polymer engineering, a M.Sc. in chemical engineering, M.Sc. (by research) in Physics and a PGCE (with QTS). In addition, I am a certified SAS programmer and have programming experience in Fortran. I now study for a PhD in Environmental Science. I enjoy playing piano/electronic keyboard and was active as a church pianist/choir director for more than twenty years.
