Information about Suzanne
Hello,
my name is Suzanne and I have been a teacher or tutor most of my adult life. I graduated from Oxford in 1997 with a degree in French literature and linguistics and after a year in Brussels post studies, returned to the UK to do my teacher training. Since this time I have taught French, German and English in a number of secondary schools and more lately worked privately and for the local authority. I have three children of my own, now teenagers. Despite my on-going enthusiasm for all things literature and language, I am very aware of the struggles and challenges that these subjects can present young people and adults alike. I aim to increase their confidence to help them achieve the grades they aspire to.
I have been working online during the pandemic and am happy to continue to do so for those who prefer this.
Availability: I work week days during the day and evenings. I do not usually work at weekends or during the school holidays unless there is a need for extra lessons.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I am a qualified teacher with a wide range of experience teaching across the ability and age range, from infants to retirees. I have worked in secondary schools, privately and as a home tutor for the local authority within the medical and vulnerable team. This involved providing one-to-one education for pupils not able to attend school and often involved fast-track learning due to time that had been lost in the class room.
My varied roles have meant I have developed an ever-evolving collection of resources and insights into what helps people to learn. My love of foreign languages and the craft of writing remains undimmed and I hope to pass on this appreciation to my students.
