Information about Stephen
I have taught Chemistry to A level at a Leicestershire Upper School for 41 years with an excellent track record for maximising the potential of students. I know the areas with which students encounter difficulties and can explain them clearly to generate understanding and confidence. I am also an examiner for Cambridge International Examination Board and in the past I have marked organic chemistry for OCR so I am familiar with the expectations of markers.
I have previous experience tutoring students to AS and A2 Level and I have access to a wide range of resources.
I am willing to tutor online via Zoom and hopefully on a one to one basis when COVID protocol permits.
The lesson fee of £40 includes review of topics, resources, marking and detailed written feedback on set work.
In between lessons, students can contact me online to have work checked or to resolve problems - this is a free service.
Availability: Weekdays - daytime or early evening.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: In addition to teaching and examining I have tutored A level Chemistry for most of my career.
During the pandemic I have successfully tutored online and would be keen to continue with this format with the hope that face to face tuition will one day become the norm.
Last year I tutored a girl from a Leicestershire School who was very low in confidence which was no doubt partly due to the constraints imposed by the pandemic. Through her diligence and a little pointing in the right direction she finished top in the trial examinations and finally came out with an A grade which helped her gain entry into the University of her choice.
I have also used my considerable experience as a Sixth Form Tutor to offer advice to students who were completing their Personal Statements.
