I am 38 years old, and have been teaching since I was 22. I have taught French, German, Italian and English in a range of settings, both here and abroad, to students aged 5 to 75.
I have worked as a lead teacher and AST for modern foreign languages, which involved training primary and secondary school language teachers.
I am now a part-time translator and a part-time tutor - the pressures of unnecessary paperwork drove me out of the classroom in the end! I`m thankful though - tutoring gives me the space to be the teacher I want to be, and gives my tutees my undivided attention. It also allows me to focus on the students` self-esteem - I often encourage them to look at what they are good at, before tackling their shortcomings.
