I worked for over ten years in a pupil referral facility in Hillingdon, teaching children who were not in school, as a result of unacceptable behaviour, illness or learning difficulties. I can teach English to children ranging in age from 8 - 15 although I prefer working with KS2 and KS3 pupils. I have also prepared year 6 pupils for their SATS tests. I specialise in teaching children who are struggling with literacy and/or have learning difficulties. I enjoy building up relationships with my pupils which is not always possible when teaching groups.
I concentrate primarily on language work such as basic spelling, grammar and punctuation. I also have a great interest in imaginative and creative writing and encourage my students to widen their horizons and increase their vocabulary by reading as much as possible.

Availability: I generally offer private tuition after school (4 to 6 pm) however I have a flexible timetable and will do my best to fit in with individual students. I am often free during school hours and have experience in teaching pupils who are home tutored. My availability changes from term to term so it is always worth contacting me again if I don`t have spaces when you first get in touch.

Experience: Qualified teacher, worked as learning support assistant for four years then returned to teaching in 2000. Have worked in primary and secondary schools and a pupil referral unit. At present I have several private pupils whose parents could supply references if required, and also have references available from parents of past pupils.
