Information about Sarah
I have tutored or and taught young people for a combined total of a decade. I have recently left an eight-year career in journalism, and am now returning to tutoring having taken a short break to pursue my creative endeavours along full-time employment. I`m now a self-employed creative, and I`m so grateful to have the time to tutor again. I love learning and sharing my knowledge with others, so tutoring is the perfect opportunity to do so. My other passions are music, community and travelling. I have a 2:1 degree from the University of Warwick in French and International Relations.
My desire is to do all that I can to help students improve in areas where necessary and develop or maintain enthusiasm for a subject, even though they may be having difficulty with it. Depending on the age of the students, I use a reward system for encouragement and a sense of achievement. I have no set curriculum but will shape my lesson plans around the needs of the student, or support the work they are being assigned from school. I am flexible in my style of teaching - activities, games, discussion, exercises etc. I want my students to get the most out of our sessions and so I will always take their learning style, strengths and weaknesses into consideration.
Asking for feedback regularly is important and ensures that the student and I are always working together to make the tuition as successful as possible.

I taught Sunday School aged 4-7 and 7-11 groups at my local church for over five years. This involves arts&crafts, games, singing, worksheets and traditional-style teaching.
I`ve given private tuition for around four years, in English and French for primary school and GCSE students.
I have worked in a primary school after school club, and as a teaching assistant in year one.

Excellent manner and interpersonal skills, identifies best approach for your child and makes the session very interactive and relevant. Plans very well in advance. I can see my sons confidence increasing already. The 1-on-1 so far has been helpful. Would recommend without a doubt.
