I studied for degrees in Mathematics at Keele University and Oxford University and have over 35 years classroom teaching experience in Private Schools, Grammar Schools and Colleges, and just as long as a private tutor. Students find me very approachable, patient and easy to learn from.

I am also a tutor for “Oxford Home Schooling” and for “The Open University”, as well as being an approved tutor for the exam centre “Tutors and Exams”.

I have had articles published in "Mathematics in Schools" and several worksheets on “Teachit Maths”.

I have provided private tuition also for over 35 years now, and have had literally hundreds of successful students credited to my record over that time.

I provide a professional service and tutor not only those at school, but also to adults.

I pride myself in providing first class tuition through my years of experience and excellent subject knowledge. Having set many exams over the years I teach students precisely how to answer exam questions to maximise their marks.

I thoroughly enjoy my subject and have a knack for explaining concepts slowly and carefully so the student grasps each topic. I like to “push” a student to think about their Maths and to bring out the best in them. My speciality is setting challenging questions to make pupils think about their Maths. I often use questions from UKMT Maths Challenge and Olympiad papers.

I also show students how best to lay Maths out and how best to answer exam questions. Papers I use for practice are past papers from schools, Bond series and GL Assessment series.

One underlying factor for my success lies in my ability to change my teaching style according to each students requirements and my ability to explain concepts clearly and with patience. I guide my students towards them reaching a correct solution through a series of well-placed questions and, where appropriate, show them efficient ways of reaching a solution.

I cater for all levels and all ages : Basic Maths, Grammar School Entrance Exams, 11+, 13+, SATs, GCSE, AS/A Level, Further Maths, etc.

I provide online tuition using Zoom. Some of my previous students include not only those from the UK but France, Germany, Italy, UAE and USA. (I also taught Christian Bale, the Hollywood actor, who played Batman.)
