Information about Rosie
I am a highly creative and committed English graduate with several years of tutoring and teaching experience. I have recently moved to Glasgow from Newcastle upon Tyne, where I lived for several years after competing my degree, although I am originally from West Yorkshire. I have been passionate about the study of English Language and Literature since I was young, when I was introduced to literature by my parents. My favourite authors are Margaret Atwood, Philip Pullman and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
At university I developed a keen interest in linguistics and greatly enjoyed the technical study of language, which I have continued to study ever since. I have a firm grasp of English grammar and enjoy teaching this to my students. Outside of my academic interests, my passions lie in travel, yoga, and video games. I enjoy discussing my interests with my students and getting to know them as people.
Availability: I have a very flexible schedule, as I work freelance as a content writer for most of the week. I arrange my own shcedule and can fit lessons in during weekdays as well as at weekends and in the evenings when needed. I usually allow my students to decide when and where we have out lessons, as I want them to feel comfortable and to enjoy their experience.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been an English tutor since 2010, when I got my first taste of teaching while at university. My first tutoring job was at Explore Learning, a tutoring centre that provides English and Mathematics tuition for children aged between 5 and 16. I worked with children both in groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them to strengthen their English and Maths skills, as well as building confidence and pride in their work. After leaving university I trained as a secondary school English teacher, but decided that I preferred teaching private lessons instead.
I have worked as a private tutor since 2012, helping students from a range of academic backgrounds to achieve their desired results in English Literature and Language. I worked with a GCSE student who was predicted a D but needed a B in order to progress into the sixth form, and together we built on her skills and confidence so that she did achieve that B. I also worked with an A Level English student who needed to achieve an A grade in order to get into her first choice of university, and after several months of sessions she took her exams and achieved an A. It is experiences like these that make tutoring a truly worthwhile profession for me, and which make all of the hard work pay off for my students.

Despite lack of time, Rosie helped my daughter prepare for her English exam and gave her confidence going into the exam. Very happy to recommend
